Daryl Harrison is a talented deafblind ceramics artist. Earlier this year, Daryl taught DBV members and volunteers how to make slab plates, stamped with designs. Daryl took home the plates made at craft group to fire them in a kiln, and returned this week with the finished pieces!
Members were excited to unwrap their own plates, revealing colourful glazing on their beautiful designs. Some plates were taken home, and others are now displayed around the DBV office. Here is a photo of Daryl with DBV’s Kathy Wise, holding a plate she made with a design of an owl perched on a branch.
Kathy wrote: “Good to see you all today at DBV craft group! Amazing large numbers must be very popular friendly place where deafblind can enjoy the clay craft and social with other people!!! Many thanks to Daryl Harrison did a fantastic job making plates bowls etc from clay!!!!”
If anyone wants to see Daryl’s own fabulous artwork, he will have a stall at the Expression Deaf Festival on Sat, 25 Oct.
