For Deafblind Awareness month at Deafblind Victoria, we ran a number of activities:
- Throughout June in the Ross House front windows on Flinders Lane, a Deafblind awareness display showcased DBV and Deafblind creations including Robert’s photography and Alison’s Auslan alphabet)
- Wed 12 June- craft group (Daryl taught clay crafts)
- Tue 18 June – members met and yarn bombed politicians at state parliament (Paul Edbrooke MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer; Tim Richardson MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Health Infrastructure and Parliamentary Secretary for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention; Iwan Walters MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Disability).
- Wed 19 June- DBV Café (Heather ran a Deafblind communication workshop)
- Thu 20 June – recreation program with Able Australia (“Day On the Bay” at Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron, where Deafblind people enjoyed boat rides, drove a Mustang, socialised with friends and made some special new friendship with dolphins and seals!)
- Wed 26 June- DBAW celebration day (food, fun and presentations from Rodney and Michelle).
