Media appearance – DBV members on ABC news

Congratulations to Jael Espinal-McCoskey, who was featured recently on ABC TV, radio, and in an article on the ABC news site! The video story and articles show the wider community what it’s like to live day-to-day as as Deafblind person in Victoria.

DBV’s Michelle Stevens also appears in the story. Michelle says “A lot of people think that we are hopeless, that we should be shut away. Because I’m Deafblind, that doesn’t mean I can’t do anything — it just means that I have to do things differently.”

The article and the video are a great demonstration of how Deafblind people can have lives that are independent and rewarding, even if challenging sometimes.

Thank you, Jael and Michelle, for raising awareness about Deafblind Victoria and thank you to journalist Nas Campanella and producer Evan Young for showcasing our Deafblind community!
