During July 23 Deafblind Victoria Café held an exciting technology day for the Victorian Deafblind community. There were many people who attended the event and the fourth floor meeting room was very busy with many Deafblind members looking at various types of technologies.
The events team along with Michelle worked very hard to put this wonderful event on. We want to thank HumanWare, Quantum, NRS, Word of Mouth, along with Able Australia. Many people was able to ask questions and feel new technology available. There were new Braille Displays, low vision aids and magnifiers. Along with different technology to make us feel safe at home from Word of Mouth.
One technology which really impressed me is the Monarch which is a 10 line refreshable Braille display that you can feel graphics, pair with iPads, iPhones, computers and is compatible with Jaws screen reader. It is very expensive but suppose one can dream.
There were many Deafblind people asking questions about all different sorts of accessible technologies. We also were so happy to catch up with old friends and make new friends as well.
Deafblind Victoria wishes to thank everyone involved in organising the event. Next year will be bigger and better than ever. If you have any ideas how we can improve the Deafblind Tech day please get in touch with Michelle, or the events team. Click Here to get in contact with us.
