DBV member Kathy Wise was featured on Blind Sports and Recreation Victoria‘s Facebook page, participating in their Blind Tennis program with support from Hannah from Able Australia.
Kathy told DBV “my favourite sport is TENNIS
at Melbourne Park every Friday evening except school holidays! It is a lots of fun to play with very friendly people makes me feel welcome and feel comfortable in the group! … I do love blind tennis very much with special yellow spongy ball which i love to play!! Cheers, Kathy Wise – Alias Ash Barty!”
Kathy has stopped playing Blind Tennis for the moment due to injury, but hopes to return next year. She wants Deafblind people to know more about blind sports. Organisations like BSRV and Blind Sports Australia offer many activities including “Swish” (blind table tennis), basketball and hiking excursions or paired walking activities. See their websites for more details.
