Deafblind Victoria is restructuring! We ran some wonderful projects over the last few years, and built a great team to work on them – the majority of paid staff are Deafblind. We are very proud of what we achieved! However, the projects are finally finishing, so all the paid project roles are ending too.
We are pleased to announce that DBV has secured funding for some brand new projects, so we have new roles to fill! No current roles will be extended. The new jobs are permanent part-time (subject to funding), and will start from July. We also have some casual positions available. Applications are now open; deadline is 20 June 2024 at 5pm.
If you think you might be a good fit working with us on the new projects, we encourage you to apply – whether you have worked with DBV before, or if you haven’t worked with us yet. People with lived experience of deafblindness, deafness or blindness are especially welcome. You just need to be willing to work with the team and learn on the job.
The projects are:
- A “Deafblind Community Hub” that facilitates access to mainstream community activities
- A “Peer Support Network” involving outreach, digital resources, and life-skills
- “How to Claim your Human Rights” resources and training (led by B-HART)
- A website: “Touching lives: A history of the Deafblind community in Victoria”
