Deafblind awareness workshop for Auslan community on Saturday, 18th November 2023

Deafblind Victoria take pride in our team running many workshops during 2023, connecting with various organisations.

The 18th and the last workshop for 2023 was for Auslan community. Unfortunately We only had 6 participants attended. We did not want to cancel the workshop, thought it was important to educate anyone about deafblind topics and deafblind community that DBV is existed. Good things that people who has RSVP saying they still want to attend workshop in the coming year. We  are looking forward to meet them next year.

Three participants travelled to Melbourne for the workshop from different regional areas such as Warrigul, Bendigo and Toolamba, together with other three participants within Melbourne joined by Auslan students, High school teacher, Disability support worker, student support worker and a researcher.

Three deafblind presenters were Joe,  Rodney and myself, we usually to share information about DeafBlindness, life experiences and did the integrating activities, guiding in pairs to try  in blindfold and so on.

Thank you everyone including interpreters, presenters, participants for the time to gather in a friendly way and enjoyed meeting each other.
